Come and try out the meditative process of weaving, and create your own “winter imprint” using a loom.

Winter brings silence, slowing down, dim light and contemplation. This time of year awakens special feelings in us: the warmth of snuggling up, the magic of snowfall, the intimacy of the holidays, or even the tranquility of nature’s rest period. Everyone experiences winter differently – and in this workshop, we draw on these personal experiences, moods, and memories.

Participants can weave their own winter stories using a variety of yarns – a lot of color and texture. This could be the sparkle of winter light, the contrast of the cold wind, softness, retreat, or a fond memory. The process of weaving encourages introspection and creative presence, and provides an opportunity to transform the meaning of winter within us into a tangible, unique textile.

We will work on a small frame loom, cover the basics of weaving, but also learn some advanced techniques to incorporate into our work.

This 4 hour workshop will provide you with everything you need to know to create a beautiful woven wall hanging on a frame loom: from warping your loom, learning the basic weaving techniques to finishing your woven piece. You can choose your own colors you will work with, there will be a huge rage of options. You will get to know a little bit about the different types of yarns too.
